Mission

To build a safer stronger New Mexico by providing quality law enforcement services, training, disaster and emergency response; and technical communications and forensics support to the public and other governmental agencies.

History

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) evolved through statutory changes combining related functions of the State Police, the Special Investigations Division, the Law Enforcement Academy, the Motor Transportation Division, the Crime Laboratory, Emergency Management Operations, Communications, Records, and Information Technology.

Sex Offender Registry

The New Mexico Department of Public Safety (DPS) developed this site according to the requirements of the New Mexico State Statute. This web page was created to provide information to the public concerning the location of sex offenders residing in the State of New Mexico. The DPS hopes this site will increase and promote public awareness.

Missing Person Registry

This web page was created to provide information to the public concerning abducted missing persons in the State of New Mexico.

Attention DPS-Approved CCW Instructors

The NMDPS Law Enforcement Records Bureau has ongoing classes for Basic Fingerprinting. Anyone interested in attending a fingerprint class please contact david.martinez4@state.nm.us . Mr. Martinez will be conducting a class on Fingerprint Pattern Identification (identifying the necessary focal points) and Rolled Fingerprints (hands on fingerprinting). Classes are typically held at the NM Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe.
